Google Feels the Heat: A Commercial Choice to Leave Smart Device Owners Unsupported

Research output: Working paper/Preprint/Pre-registrationCase study

Abstract

Why is Google doing this? The company has stated that Europe has a great diversity in domestic heating systems, and that it is becoming too difficult to support them all. There is probably some truth to that, but Google has a history of losing interest in software and hardware products and moving onto the next shiny thing. In terms of the overall business, products like Nest are way, way down the list of commercial priorities.
