Abstract

The “2008 ICTP International Workshop on the Frontiers of Modern Plasma Physics”
was held at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP),
Trieste, Italy, during the period 14–25 July 2008. The workshop was organized by
S. M. Mahajan, P. K. Shukla, R. Bingham, L. Stenflo and Z. Yoshida. The Plasma
Physics Workshop is a permanent feature of ICTP. The main focus of the scientific program was on tokamak physics and magnetic confinement fusion, plasma turbulence, dusty plasmas, intense laser-plasma interactions, plasma based particle acceleration, and quantum plasmas including quantum electrodynamic effects. A selected number of papers in these areas appears in this book.
