Abstract

We review recent developments in optical fiber gas detection using absorption spectroscopy, including open-path gas sensors using fiber coupled micro-optic cells, evanescent wave sensors using D-shaped optical fibers and holey fibers; sensor systems using broadband sources and laser sources; techniques for sensitivity enhancement and noise reduction; and various multi-point gas detection systems.
