Evaluating the efficiency of rubber and plastic companies of Tehran Stock Exchange using data envelopment analysis (in Persian)

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

The efficiency of companies is a key consideration in managerial decision-making, particularly in the execution of strategic plans. Developing methods to measure efficiency has accordingly been the focus of a wide body of research. This study applies Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric mathematical approach for measuring the relative efficiency of decision-making units, with the CCR and BCC models as its principal formulations, to evaluate the relative efficiency of rubber and plastic companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange. The analysis is conducted using the FRONTIER software, employing two inputs and one output in the efficiency calculations. Companies lying on the efficiency frontier are identified, and for the remaining companies, the analysis indicates which efficient companies serve as appropriate benchmarks. Given that the study adopts an output-oriented formulation, the results further specify how each inefficient company should adjust its output to reach the efficiency frontier. The findings provide practical guidance for managers in the rubber and plastic sector seeking to improve operational performance and inform strategic decision-making.
