Abstract
Whereas translation has traditionally played a pivotal role in the process of language learning, it is now widely considered an outdated teaching practice, in favour of other less grammar-based methods, such as the communicative method. In contrast with this, this article argues the usefulness of rethinking the design of translation activities and reincorporating translation as one of the core skills in language learning.
