Abstract

The effect of the growth phase of CdS-ZnSe superlattices on the intrinsic Stark behavior is investigated. The results offers the possibility of realizing all-optical modulators in the visible spectral region. The limiting wavelength of operation corresponds to the large band gap of the materials pair, close to 460 nm at room temperature. Large increases in the cubic piezoelectric coefficients with strain in CdTe based materials are observed in cubic CdS-ZnSe superlattices.
