Abstract

This special issue is a compilation of papers presented at an EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) sponsored workshop on life prediction in tribo-corrosion, organized by Strathclyde University and held in Glasgow in Autumn 2002. We were fortunate to have as a contributor to the meeting Dr. Alistair Gilchrist, of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, whose work as part of his Ph.D. with Neilson in the 1960s, published in WEAR, produced an important model of solid particle erosion. At this meeting, papers were presented on a wide range of tribo-corrosion processes. A number of contributions on modelling tribology (not presented at the meeting) are also included for completeness in this special issue.
