Abstract
At the time of writing (22nd October), there continues to remain significant uncertainty over the timing and nature of the UK’s departure from the EU.
Unpicking the impact that this is having on the Scottish economy is not an easy task. What we do know is that consumer confidence and risk appetite amongst businesses remains weak. Business investment in the UK has now been negative in 5 of the past 6 quarters. We also know that growth – whilst volatile – remains fragile.
