Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

Almost half a century ago, the European political scene appears a new type of party: the Green or Ecological parties. Many then felt that it was single-issue parties, based on a protest vote insurgent new generation, a transient fashion that would pass. None of this has not been verified: currently, the ecological parties are present in every European country and the Greens is the fourth largest political force in Parliament.

How did we get here? How they have evolved over time green parties? Who voted Greens? What are the characteristics of members of the ecological parties? What succeeded the green parties involved when the governments of their countries? What is their role at EU level and what are their future prospects?

In this volume, a group of special political scientists trying to answer these questions by comparing the European and Greek history and development of Green parties. The result is a book that fills a significant gap in Greek language literature on political parties, a book which addresses both the specialized researcher and the interested reader, combining cutting-edge research with an impressive wealth of empirical information.
