    Abstract

Well that’s another year flown by with the evident highs and lows. At least it finished with a high as we inaugurated a Past Presidents’ Lunch in Glasgow City Chambers as guest of our good friend Lord Provost Alex Mosson. Some thirty turned up and it was a real pleasure to see so many familiar faces, even if the hairs were getting fewer and greyer, the waistlines a little thicker and the gait a little slower. Robert Craig, was, as always, there. Although it’s not quite time for farewells to Robert he’s seen nineteen of us Presidents out. We managed to use the occasion to surprise him with a Festschrift*. It’s a tribute to the respect in which he’s held that so many big names took time to write excellent chapters for the book. In most cases the prospect of surprising him just for once was incentive enough. It really is an excellent volume and is beautifully produced. If you read only one professional tome in the next few months make sure this is it. You’ll enjoy it.
