Abstract

This study explores the economic impact of smart transportation systems, aiming to revolutionize urban mobility. Through a comprehensive review of literature, case studies, and empirical data, it investigates the benefits and challenges associated with implementing smart transportation technologies. The analysis focuses on key areas, starting with the potential cost savings achieved through optimized route planning, reduced congestion, and improved fuel efficiency. Case studies from various cities quantify financial benefits for individuals and businesses. Efficiency gains are investigated, considering real-time traffic management, intelligent infrastructure, and data-driven decision-making. Smart transportation enhances productivity and fosters economic growth by reducing delays and improving travel predictability. The study also assesses environmental benefits, as smart transportation promotes electric and shared vehicles and incorporates sustainable practices. These efforts mitigate air pollution and reduce carbon emissions, presenting economic advantages in creating a cleaner and healthier environment. Lastly, the study explores new business opportunities. Innovative startups, technology companies' integration into the transportation sector, and job creation in data analytics, software development, and infrastructure maintenance are examined. These developments drive economic growth, innovation, and employment opportunities. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and transportation and urban planning researchers. With the potential to reshape urban mobility, smart transportation offers economic benefits through cost savings, improved efficiency, environmental sustainability, and new business prospects.
