Abstract

Professor Norrie is well known for his scholarship in relation to the children’s hearings system in Scotland, having established a body of work that is utilised consistently by students, practitioners, policy makers and courts to understand the law related to the system and its development. One of the earliest articles that Professor Norrie wrote on the children’s hearings system was In Defence of O v Rae. Published in 1995, this article explored the Inner House decision in O v Rae and the issue of how a children’s hearing considers information that is a matter of dispute amongst those present; a question that has been considered at shrieval and Court of Session levels since 1973.
