Development in companionship - the importance of relationships to the development of language and learning

Abstract

This keynote presentation develops the concept of attachment to highlight the importance of companionship to attachment relationships. The development of language and learning through companionship is explained through looking at the evidence of a range of studies of early mother-infant interactions.
