Abstract
Advanced systems for harvesting sub-bandgap photons via upconversion were investigated, comprising improved upconverter materials, adapted silicon solar cells, nanocrystalline quantum dots and spectrally selective photonic crystals. Upconversion increased JSC by 13.3±3.0 mA/cm2 at 207±86 suns.
