Abstract
This paper is based on introducing the fractional order elements to improvise the performance of traditional PID controllers. In the complete procedure the different tuning parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd) and the differ-integral's order (λ, μ) of the controller are being obtained using various optimization techniques so that the performance of the heating furnace can be meliorated. The plant (heating furnace) and the different FOPID controllers designed using optimization techniques are kept in a closed loop & the time response characteristics are analyzed. The paper also demonstrates the mathematical modeling of the heating furnace which is being done using the Laplace transform and is in the integer orderform or we can say that it is an integer order model.
