    Abstract

Gulikers, Bastiaens, and Kirschner, (2004, p. 69) define authentic assessment as: "An assessment requiring students to use the same competencies, or combinations of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that they need to apply in the criterion situation in professional life". Authentic learning tasks are usually designed to elicit and assess performance in an integrated manner. Authentic assessments often resemble meaningful performances in real world contexts and should involve real life tasks with multiple solutions for the student.
