Abstract
Chapter dealing with the architectural transformation of the church from the fourteenth to the seventeenth centuries. It identifies the complex stratification on display and highlights how conservation can be effective through design. The research is interdisciplinary, including survey, archival research and materials technology. It will contributes to the knowledge on architectural design, helping to understand better the methods, strategies and instruments used by architects over the centuries in the transformation of a place.
