Cultivation of filamentous fungi in the disc fermenter

Abstract

A method of growing filamentous fungi in a novel disc fermenter is described. Growth occurs as a layer on the discs and the fermenter design permits aseptic sampling of the attached biomass. Observations concerning oxygen and nutrient exchange between medium and biomass are reported.
