Abstract

Continuing professional development (CPD) - or continuing professional education (CPE) as it was commonly known until recently - was identified as an area of interest in the first issue of Accounting Education: an international journal. A review of the first 10 years of publication of the journal indicated that, while undergraduate and professional accounting education had been the subject of considerable research attention, CPD was an under-researched area. This is despite the fact that the post-qualification stage comprises the greater part, in terms of years, of an accountant's involvement with the accounting profession. This themed issue aims to help in addressing this lack of research.
