Abstract

Moving between various issues laying at the intersections of cultural heritage, law, society and politics, this book ventured to provide a unique perspective on not only the current state but also the future of heritage protection, pulling down the walls that the field of heritage studies often puts up to keep different perspectives separate: the legal, the political and the cultural, the natural and the indigenous, and, most importantly, those of the wartime and of the peacetime. This conclusion brings the various strands together in an attempt to set up new pathways for heritage protection.
