Abstract
This paper reflects on a wider ongoing research to highlight the connection of historical analysis to entrepreneurship development which is becoming increasingly recognised by scholars. The paper argues that much of the early scholarly works in aspects of entrepreneurship are based on various historical developments. Attention was placed on the public sector institutions as supportive framework for entrepreneurship development for socio-economic purposes and through this process, the study points to the limited evidence on the post-colonial public institutions and how they support entrepreneurship programmes for the youth. Based on preliminary findings from conceptual and theoretical studies in this area, this paper proposed activities to further in-depth research in post-colonial historic public institutions and youth entrepreneurship programmes.
