Abstract
The role of cultural heritage for sustainable development has been widely acknowledged during the last decade, but has not been yet clearly analysed- especially regarding its social benefits for local communities. Its power for sustaining communities in a local level appears through reinforcing social values; local identity, traditions, and practices. Social value is a complex concept (Pearson and Sullivan 1995, 155). The poster presents a framework for the authors PhD research on analysing participation in cultural heritage in rural communities regarding its potential benefits for supporting social well being for isolated and resource-restricted environments.
