Abstract
Landsec are creating a new sustainable future for Buchanan Galleries and the surrounding area of Glasgow city centre. The way people live, work, shop and have fun has rapidly changed over the past few years. The pandemic has shifted focus away from our cities, and we need to work harder to create compelling reasons for people to visit, shop, work and stay. To create a vibrant, successful and net zero new heart of the city centre, the Buchanan Galleries design team is engaging directly with local communities and key stakeholders through a wide-ranging public
engagement programme. This three day workshop forms part of this engagement. You are invited to a three day collaborative workshop hosted by the Buchanan Galleries design team. You will hear about the proposals for the new urban district, as well as the process behind its design development. You will then have the opportunity to create your own proposals in groups, that respond to and reimagine the public realm opportunities with a focus on the new extension to Sauchiehall Street. The outcome will then be displayed as part of a month long pop-up exhibition in the Buchanan Galleries Mall.
