Abstract

We’re delighted to open the third issue of Evidence & Policy this year with the article to which we awarded the 2019 Carol Weiss Prize, ‘What is research? Educators’ conceptions and alignment with United States federal policies’, by Mills and colleagues. The Carol Weiss Prize, which we award every two years, recognises strong contributions to Evidence & Policy from researchers who are at a relatively early stage of their career (for more details, see: https://policy.bristoluniversitypress.co.uk/journals/evidence-and-policy/carol-weiss-prize). The panel short-listed several articles for consideration last year but ultimately selected Mills and colleagues’ piece on the basis of its strong research design and rigorous social science methods.
