Abstract

The title compound, [Li-2(C7H14N)(2)(C6H16N2)](n), is a chain polymer in which strictly planar Li2N2 rings incorporating 2,6-dimethylpiperidinido ligands are linked by N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine ligands in a rare bridging role. The Li atom is planar three-coordinate. The internal ring angles are obtuse [107.89(11)degrees] at lithium and acute [72.11(11)degrees] at nitrogen, as is commonly found for lithium amide ring structures.
