Abstract

This chapter is concerned with the measures adopted by the law in order to regulate businesses. It is divided into three main sections. As the criminal law is one of the most important tools used in business regulation, the chapter commences by introducing the reader to the purpose and general principles of the criminal law. It then goes on to consider a number of offences which are of particular relevance to business. Finally, it examines a number of regulatory regimes which parliament has enacted to control a range of business activities.
