Abstract
On June 23, 2016, the United Kingdom voted 51.9% to withdraw from the European Union (EU).
The upheaval following this vote will require a lot of energy from the UK government in the coming years, disrupting trade and investment patterns, as well as job and pension plans for millions of EU citizens and UK citizens. Moreover, these disruptions occur at a time when the EU is vulnerable and faced with several crises. In this article, I will address the following key questions: the background to Brexit and the outcome of the referendum; Brexit and European integration; United Kingdom special status; EU rights in real life; United Kingdom and EU divorce. At the end of this article I will ask the question - can Brexit produce more beneficial effects?
