Abstract
Storage is a crucial stage of the biomass supply chain due to the seasonal availability of most biomass types, accounting for a significant percentage of the total feedstock delivery cost. This chapter presents the most widely used biomass storage methods and discusses the role of storage within the various supply chain stages. It then focuses on the biomass properties that affect its storage, as well as the most critical storage-related issues. Furthermore, the main principles for designing, sizing and monitoring biomass storage facilities are introduced.
