Abstract
The Nigerian Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is funding numerous studentships at Strathclyde, mainly for PhD students working on their dissertations. However, this funder does not have any specific Open Access policy and does not provide any specific support to cover Open Access publishing costs. From the institutional Open Access support service we try to provide support for these PTDF-funded outputs like we do for all Strathclyde publications, but with no support from the external funder (as opposed to other funders like the UKRI, the Wellcome Trust, the British Heart Foundation or Cancer Research UK) Gold Open Access funding requests are often declined. This Jan 28th, 2025 session on available Open Access routes was specifically arranged for PTDF-funded scholars to get to know what options are available for them to publish their work Open Access and what workflows to follow to maximise their opportunities for having their outputs published Gold Open Access via the multiple Read & Publish agreements the University has with publishers (meaning that no payment is required from them or their departments or supervisors).
