Abstract
Discusses the findings of research comparing the frequency with which EU Member States resorted to the EC Treaty art.234 mechanism to refer competition and state aid cases to the European Court of Justice for a preliminary ruling. Considers how the use of this procedure has changed over time and the reasons given for its use. Presents data from the research in graphs and tables. Examines the post-ruling process applied by each Member State surveyed.
