Abstract

Micro-Doppler signatures can be a useful source of information for target classification. The exploitation of these signatures is difficult because of the presence of stationary target and noise that enters the receiver antenna beam. Of particular interest in this work is micro-Doppler signatures of helicopters rotor blades observed from systems with relatively large wavelength and illuminators of opportunity [4]. In this paper a micro-Doppler signature extraction method based on the Singular Value Decomposition is applied to extract the target micro-Doppler features from the signal received from a passive bistatic radar. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is confirmed through simulations.
