Abstract

Form errors in components that are manufactured by the plastic deformation of engineering materials originate from several sources, amongst which are those that originate from the deflection of the machine during the deformation cycle and the elastic deflection of the die. To date, it has not been possible to eliminate these errors for want of a systemic theory and supporting technologies. The presently reported research is conducted to develop the approach and tool for the definition of component-errors for the nett-forming of engineering components, and based on this, an error analysis and evaluation system for nett-forming is developed with a view to improving the efficiency of nett-form manufacturing.
