Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter sets the scene for the rest of the book. It explores the development of carers in social policy research and the different ways they have been counted and categorised. The debates surrounding feminist research on carers in the 1980s and young carers in the 1990s are discussed along with possible ways forward.
