Abstract

The Strathclyde Hidden Voices Network is made up of undergraduate students and graduates who have experience of imprisonment in a variety of forms. The network exists to amplify the voices of children and families affected by imprisonment and to support the professional development of those who work with them.

This session will explore the needs and experiences of children affected by parental imprisonment. It will consider different forms of exclusion and constraint that impact on children's rights and create the need for additional support for living and learning. Presenters will draw on their own experiences to contextualise the content of this session.

There will be time for delegates to work together to share knowledge and understandings from their own field in a bid to consider future action and new perspectives that will enhance the experiences of children with a parent in prison.
