Abstract

Gender and intersecting social inequalities shape university entrance, degree completion, and the possibility of imagining ourselves as intellectual workers, ultimately contouring our academic careers. Drawing from interdisciplinary feminist scholarship, this entry offers an overview of the relationship between gender and academic careers, including gendered intersectional inequalities in accessing and progressing in academia, analyses of collaboration as a feminist strategy for negotiating the career course, a focus on women in leadership and the possibilities and limits of feminist leadership, and privilege and precarity in higher education.
