Abstract
This paper presents a novel synchronous reference frame-based control strategy for series voltage and harmonic compensation when supplied to linear or non-linear load. The series controller compensates source voltage variation and power factor very effectively. Moreover, it acts as a harmonic filter in the presence of source voltage harmonic distortion and harmonic generation due to non-linear harmonic voltage source loads such as a diode rectifier with large smoothing capacitor. Simulation results are presented together, vith experimental results on a scaled down laboratory system to show the flexibility and effectiveness of the controller.
