Abstract
A background of increasing uncertainty in all time horizons of power system planning and operation has prompted the development of a comprehensive methodology and an advanced new practical tool for assessing both the static and dynamic security of a real network facing a large number of uncertainties. This paper describes this development, the steps of a study methodology and the incorporation of advanced security-constrained optimal power flow, dynamic simulation, statistical analysis tools and a specially developed set of sampling functions into a unique environment. The possible hardware set-ups are outlined and, finally, some examples of the tool's application are given.
