Abstract
A finite element analysis that focused on elastic buckling of columns is presented. The key points of interest for the
study were the affect of the wandering neutral axis and the assumed effective length of the column. The veracity of
assumptions such as the movement of the neutral axis is counteracted by the effects of the fixed end are considered.
