Speak Up 2024 - a debate competition between Strathclyde and Glasgow university

Project: Knowledge Exchange

Project Details

Description

Revival post pandemic of the competition organised by the Alliance Française with a team from Glasgow University and a team from Strathclyde University. The students prepare questions/statements in advance and discover on the night if they will argue in favour or against.
This project was made possible by Emilie Perez, cultural coordinator of the Alliance Francaise, Dr Greg Kerr from the University of Glasgow and myself, event coordinator for Strathclyde. My colleagues, Ms Piochaud-Prevost and Mr Guérin, and I noted how well students performed and were delighted they were the winning team on the night.
The debate was followed by a French documentary Entre nous on the personal and professional choices a group of friends made in the Marseille area between 18 and 28.
