The project was commissioned by a subgroup consisting of representatives of The Scottish Police Federation, the Police Federation of England & Wales, and the National Policing Improvement Agency, on behalf of The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The research examined the health and safety impact on police officers and police staff who work shifts in travelling to and from work, and other related shift matters. It covered small, medium and large forces with an urban and rural mix. Evidence was gathered by means of a questionnaire and focus groups in the identified forces.
