Project Details
Description
I am also actively involved in a project “AI-enabled Intelligent Residential Ventilation with Integrated Heating Control”, which recently secured funding from the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy. This collaborative effort involves Smart Ventilation LTD and the University of Strathclyde. The primary objective of this initiative is to develop an innovative ventilation system tailored to residential spaces and designed to enhance IAQ.
The focus of this project is integrating an intelligent residential ventilation system, “Think Seamlessly Air”, with room heating control to ultimately establish a unified AI-driven system that optimises performance while proactively addressing potential conflicts. The conventional design approach, often rooted in pre-programmed decisions based on standardised assumptions, can lead to clashes between ventilation and space heating demands. This misalignment impacts IAQ and thermal comfort and influences energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
To address these critical challenges, we have sought to collaborate with the owners of social houses in Nottingham and the broader East Midlands region. We have successfully secured four locations for the system to be installed for testing, with research to be conducted in Birmingham to evaluate and refine the design.
