Description

CoI on a global interdisciplinary project which adopts a holistic integrated approach to plastics pollution in Indonesia. This is a key case study for ocean plastic waste management, given the volumes of waste and differentiated management practices across a vast region of islands. The assessment panel feedback highlighted that, “Indonesia comes top of the list globally where plastic waste is endemic and the threat to marine systems greatest” noting “This is an outstanding proposal that outlines world-leading interdisciplinary research, with an innovative stakeholder engagement approach that is situated methodologically at the centre of the project”. I am leading on behaviour change using media and communications to identify and co create culturally nuanced interventions with Indonesian social scientists in field sites of Bali and Pasuruan, East Java and co ordinating activities with environmental psychologists (Universities of Plymouth and Vienna) and leading the female leadership mentoring programme. Project partners: University of Oxford, University of Leeds, Plymouth University and Plymouth Marine Laboratory, five Indonesian Universities (Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas of Airlangga and Udayana, and Essa Unggul), The Indonesian Institute of Science, The Asian Institute of Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science.
