Project Details
Description
In this research, I developed a portable PD monitoring system for use in industrial environments. I was responsible for selecting the components for the instrument and designed and installed the hardware in a carry case. I had responsibility for developing the user interface software, with feedback from the industrial personnel. During the project I carried out experiments, in the laboratory and in industrial sites, to study the characteristics of PD pulse propagation in cable and monitoring system. The information gained from simulation and experimental methods has been combined to form a novel industrially specific technique to locate PD sources in power cables.
