Project Details
Description
Achieving a light and strong titanium component through a technologically and commercially viable approach is a fundamental challenge. SDE has teamed up with the AFRC on the development of a hybrid superplastic forming (SPF) to create an energy-efficient and environment-friendly technology for manufacturing of single-sheet titanium components, in doing so supporting the drive for a net zero future in the aerospace industry.
This project will conduct life cycle assessment (LCA) on the hybrid SPF with shortened cycle time and less energy consumption, thereby potentially resulting in a net improvement of the environmental profile of the manufactured parts over their life.
