Delivered to groups of teachers in the following local authorities: Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, North Ayrshire Council, Perth and Kinross Council and South Lanarkshire Council.

Workshop descriptor:

This workshop looks at ways of engaging even very young language learners. We share simple, effective ways of introducing and embedding an additional language into classroom practice ranging from everyday class routines and simple commands to interdisciplinary activities with Modern Languages, literacy, creative and cultural elements.

We also consider the implications of Primary Language Learning for the secondary sector and how we can ensure effective transition from primary into secondary by drawing on examples of good practice from across the country.
