Project Details
Description
The outcomes of the proposed project will be used to support a business and economic case regarding net zero industrial heating options.
To help achieve net zero requirements, alternatives to gas furnaces are being explored. However, many markets and industries are concerned about the potential high costs surrounding the transition from existing conventional gas furnaces to those which employ net zero fuel sources.
The project aims to:
• Establish a cost model demonstrator for a generic heating process/cycle when utilising conventional gas furnaces.
• Establish a cost model demonstrator for a generic heating process/cycle when utilising hydrogen (H2) furnaces.
• Establish a cost model demonstrator for a generic heating process/cycle when utilising electric box furnaces.
• Provide a comparison between the three methods, primarily in terms of cost.
