Project Details
Description
DEMO delivered a full-scale digital manufacturing demonstrator across NMIS facilities, including AFRC and the Digital Factory. The project established a secure, scalable infrastructure to capture, store and visualise machine and environmental data from both legacy and modern manufacturing equipment using a wide range of industrial and IIoT protocols (e.g. OPC-UA, Profinet, Modbus, MQTT and web APIs). Data is consolidated within a central on-premise platform and presented through live dashboards, enabling real-time monitoring, analysis and decision-making. DEMO now acts as a foundational digital backbone for downstream research and innovation activities, supporting Industry 4.0 demonstrations, sustainability studies, cybersecurity trials and future digital transformation projects with industrial partners.
