Design of International Teacher Education Programmes

Project: Internally funded project

Project Details

Description

I have co-designed teacher education programmes that are used in international settings.

Elements of teacher education programmes I have designed include a focus on inclusion, differentiation to meet the needs of all learners, active learning, formative and summative assessment theory and practices. These are core elements of both teaching programmes taught to students overseas by lecturers at Strathclyde (iPGCE) and as of a teacher education programme written for international schools to deliver in situ overseas. This type of programmes and knowledge exchange activity provides 20 days of teacher professional learning and is greatly beneficial for educational settings where educators may have expertise in a specific subject area but would benefit from teacher education in order to teach their subject to others.
External funding was awarded for the latter knowledge exchange project. This programme is currently being used in Pakistan by over 500 teachers and 7000 children.

Key findings

This teacher education programmes is currently in use within schools with over 500 teachers and 7000 children internationally.
