Description
This project aimed to develop a demographic, rules-based definition to determine boundaries for Scotland's cities and understand the economic conurbations of each boundary. Data zones were the building block for the boundaries, allowing creation of economic profiles. The starting point for city definition looked to existing criteria.
Key findings
The project highlighted how different geographic boundaries can significantly alter measures like productivity, in turn affecting out understanding of a city's economic composition.
