Project Details
Description
This multidisciplinary novel project proposes exploiting biological methodologies for preparation and optimisation of green nanostructured silicas for use as adsorbents for effective CO2 capture (an EPSRC Priority area: Carbon Capture & Storage – CCS). The proposed green method produces superior materials without attendant pollution and high energy usage. This will be the first study utilising bioinspired silicas for CCS – giving the UK the opportunity to be a world leader. Outcomes envisaged include an invention disclosure on preparation of materials for CO2 capture, a 4* publication and two EPSRC proposals.
